Potholder is one of the creative handicrafts, which will be great gift item for a special person. Crafting is such an activity which can give you more relax and will be work as antiseptic to the stress. You will give so much curiosity to the modern kits where there is presentation of excellent artistic touch. You can also use these handicraft items as decorative items.

Sewing machine can help you to make a creative handicraft. Potholders are the best example of these handicraft items where you will found clear artistic touch. These Potholders are generally used as the well come kit. It is made up with a sewing project from scrap material or useless clothing.

These are some basic instructions for this creative handicraft potholder.

The necessary ingredients for this potholder are the cut pieces of two 8-inch (21 cm.) squares of fabric from front and back. If possible you can use these fabrics in this potholder for your kitchen. You can make eight inches square pattern of eight inches of cardboard which will be easy for you. If possible you can arrange more 8-inch squares of any old fabric, which will used as filling the stack. It will be the best idea to protect you from hot pot, if the fabrics items are thick enough.

You should stack all the layers in such a form that the outer layers should facing to out side and the fillers to the inside. You can use straight pins all through the layers so that they will not deviate from each other. Then sewing must have to be done like middle of the stack and across the middle which will make perpendicular to earlier stitching. There should be four numbers of squares. Your stitching should touch to the every corner to corner. Then go for joining the each layer.

You should be use scissor very carefully so that trimming will happen to the all layers and all to the edges. You should open one folded edge very carefully of the bias tape very carefully. Wider bias tape can be used easily, but you should use narrow bias tape with more finishing. To make potholder good looking, stitching would be start from one corner to the all edges of the tape with very neatly. You should stitch slowly and neatly all layers along with the first fold, about 1/4 inches from the edge till the first corner. To make into a hanging loop, you should cut the bias tape off, leaving 3 inches.

You will be getting best result in potholder as a typical handicraft, if you fold the bias tape perfectly over the raw edge, then the middle fold lines will follow up with the outside. Try to hide the raw edge of the bias tape. Then it will look like a loop, with your hand sewing creative handicraft.
